Overview:

The Department of Information Technology, Government of India with the aim of spearheading the e-governance initiatives across various States of India, has set off a comprehensive national level Programme for improving the quality, accessibility and effectiveness of government services using Information and Communication Technology. Land Records computerization is one such initiative launched by DIT, Government of India and the State of Mizoram has decided to implement the Replication programme in the area of Land records in the State to streamline and standardize the process involved in the Revenue Offices in the State and thereby reduce the turnaround time for the citizens to access different services from the Land Revenue & Settlement offices of the State.

The major objectives of the Replication Programme, is to bring more transparency, accountability and responsiveness in the system and it can be achieved through complete replacement of the manual system by the computerized Land Records system for the State. The system should be self-sustainable in nature by introduction of user charge/ extra levy for the issuance of computerized certificates to the citizens in the automated Land records scenario.

The Revenue Department has decided to implement the programme in the Pilot district of Serchhip. Serchhip District comprises of 3 Sub-divisions, namely SerchhipSadar, N. Vanlaiphai and Thenzawl, 4 revenue circles and 9 Revenue villages. The Pilot project is implemented in the District Land Records & Settlement Office of Serchhip.
